The first Act of "Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon", as the manga and Japanese anime are called (the translation of it is "Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon". Actually, literally translated, "senshi" means warrior, but "pretty warrior" just doesn't sound quite right. ^_-), focuses on a clutzy, 14-year-old school girl named Tsukino Usagi, and how she comes to transform into Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. This was first published in Nakayoshi in April of 1992. The anime soon followed. But what makes the manga so special is the creator's original drawings. The anime styles pale to the originals in pure style and grace. The lines are pleasing, and Takeuchi Naoko uses both black and white, and color medium well, creating the characters that thousands, if not millions, around the world have grown to love. This page is dedicated to the manga that spawned a worldwide fandom, and the story behind it.
Here on this page you will find a gallery of my favorite (and hopefully rarer) pictures from the manga, mostly from the Artbooks, published in color. Also, I am working on converting the unofficial English translation of "Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon" to HTML for this site. This is so those who have the original Japanese manga, and don't know how to read kanji (the Japanese letter-drawings), or have the Chinese or French editions and would like to know the real story in addition to admiring the artwork. The *official* English translation belongs, however, to Mixxzine. I would recommend getting the official translation because not only do you get the story, you get the artwork right along with it, instead of just boring texts like I will have here (with supplemental pictures for you to get a general idea). Please enjoy what I will have, and just so you know, the pictures in the galleries are *free* to take! Honestly! In any case, have fun!
